Nullarbor

We set off across the Nullarbor. I have had many people say to me that this part of the trip will be boring…how wrong were they. Yes, there are stretches where we had to entertain ourselves…more good music and conversation, but there is so much to see. The ever changing landscape, the incredible views in many spots, the unique roadhouses every couple of hundred kms, watching Mals knuckles when the road trains pass us and trying not to look at all the road kill…kangaroos, emus, wombats etc. Sad. The animals don’t mix well with the road trains. We had a mission to find the most expensive fuel…$1.92 a diesel litre. A captured market !!!

The first night we slept by the side of the road again, but on a cliff overlooking an amazing view of the Great Australian Bight. See the photos below.

The second night we pulled into a sheep station that offered somewhere to park the van. It was called Fraser Range Sheep Station, and we both enjoyed the stay a great deal.

Hopefully you will enjoy my photos that show our trip far better than I can describe.

Don't go to close to the edge...they are high cliffs

Set up for the night on the edge of the cliff
Our view...pretty good !!!
Our sunset
It really was that straight and that long...we measured it !!!
Our second night...Fraser Range Sheep Station..the office/ store
Cute
Our sunset that night..we were kept company with emus, kangaroos and sheep

  1. What a truly wonderful trip and the photos are gorgeous. I can’t believe you slept right on the cliff, I would have checked the brakes over and over. Safe travels and we look forward to seeing more wonderful shots. How relaxing and just taking your time and poking along. Michael is so envious – “ohhhh heard from Mal today and I think he has decided to leave Port Lincoln after several days, life is tough!” Poor Mal and Ros! Lots of love xxx Kim and Mike

    1. Hi Kim,
Yes, the trip has been wonderful, and yes, I checked the brakes a couple of times. Believe me !!! We are both working just a little bit, which gives a nice balance with the tripping and holidaying and all that goes with it. Talk soon, xx Ros

  2. Beautiful sunsets! You are better than me guys, I can’t stand the 35kms of straight road from Cunningham’s Gap to Warwick, I whinge about every 5ks, 146KMs of straight road would kill me (in fact it wouldn’t but Michael would, as I’d be driving him around the twist) 🙂

    Drive safe!

  3. So glad you enjoyed the Nullabor crossing. I agree – it is most definitely not boring. We have a wonderful, varse & diverse country – just so interesting. Love that campsite on the edge of the Bight. And love your pics too.

  4. Wow – that water is an amazing colour. Lucky you’re not sleepwalkers. That drop is absolutely incredible. I’m glad they haven’t fenced it all off. So after all of these incredible places, the burning question is: Is Tassie still your preferred destination?

    1. Nic,
OF COURSE TASSIE is still our preferred destination although our favourite house sold this week. Damm. There are plenty more though.
Guess what. I do sleepwalk, but have not in the caravan!!!! X Ros
